Spokes
Self-hosted Discord alternative for friends and families, with mobile apps

About
Spokes is an all-in-one, self-hosted Discord alternative built for friend groups, families, gaming communities, and small teams. It combines organized text channels, direct messages, persistent drop-in voice and video rooms, shared photo albums, and a group calendar—all running on your own server in a single Docker container.
Unlike most self-hosted chat platforms that only work in a desktop browser or require maintaining 5–10 separate containers (PostgreSQL, Redis, Matrix/TURN servers), Spokes is designed to be effortless to host and frictionless for non-technical friends and family to join.
Key Highlights:
Single-Container Deployment: Chat server, embedded LiveKit voice/video server, built-in OIDC identity provider (Casdoor), and zero-database JSON storage all run in one Docker container (pcbeeqc/spokes:latest). Official iOS & Android Apps: Native apps on the App Store and Google Play with reliable, end-to-end encrypted mobile push notifications out of the box. Persistent Voice, Video & Screen Share: Drop-in Discord-style voice rooms with built-in local noise cancellation and low-latency WebRTC powered by an embedded LiveKit server. More Than Just Chat: Includes shared group Photo Albums, an Event Calendar with availability tracking, built-in GIF search, and optional password-locked Secure Channels. Complete Data Ownership: All data lives in a single /data folder on your hardware, and external OIDC providers (Authentik, Pocket ID, Authelia) are supported alongside built-in SSO. Simple, Fair Pricing: Source-available (BSL 1.1 -> Apache 2.0) and free to self-host with unlimited users, unlimited channels, and free Web Push. Every server includes a 2-month free trial of native mobile push notifications, with optional flat-rate server passes ($45/yr or $385 lifetime per server—never per user).
